Wireless
& Wireline Communication
Mission:
One of the major research thrusts in the TRC is in the general area of physical layer communications, specifically in wireless digital communications. The communications systems program at ASU has grown tremendously within the past several years. Currently, there are seven faculty members and over 40 M.S. and Ph.D. students whose research involves physical layer communication issues. The main communication systems areas covered within TRC are : Wireless and mobile communications, signal processing for communications, information theory, coding , and communication circuits and implementation. In particular, we conduct research in the areas of multiple access, code division multiple access (CDMA), multi-carrier communications, wireless LAN and broadband transceivers, multiple antenna wireless systems, beam forming, diversity combining, space-time coding, turbo codes, coding for wireless and recording channels, multi-user communications, detection and estimation, distributed sensors, ultra wideband communications, global positioning system and cross-layer design of communication networks.
